Turboprops in private aviationShort Overview
Turboprop aircraft have a valued place in the world of private aviation. The perfect alternative in the case of airports with short runways.
The turboprop can take you
to places where the jet can not.
Modern turboprops feel no
difference compared to jet once
inside. Quality of cabins same
as on the private jets but the
noise and vibration levels higher.
Newer ones are getting quieter
and aircraft manufacturers are
striving to make this continuous
improvement.
Most private turboprops have
4 to 8 seats on board. For
short and medium distances the
turboprop can offer a larger cabin
than private jets at the same price.
The turboprop engine is an ultra-reliable aviation structure
Incorrectly perceived as old-fashioned, the turboprop is in fact a more recent invention than the jet engine and makes for a more fuel-efficient alternative. A turboprop engine is a jet engine attached to a propeller. The turbine at the back is turned by the hot gases, and this turns a shaft that drives the propeller. Modern turboprop engines are equipped with propellers that have a smaller diameter but a larges number of blades for efficient operation at much higher flight speeds.
